Biography

Born in Washington, USA, on December 19, 1960, Laurent de Wilde is considered one of the most important jazz pianists on the contemporary scene. After six albums produced in New York, including Open Changes (1992), he alternated between acoustic trio sessions and electro-jazz projects. Released in 1997, Spoon-A-Rhythm won a Victoire de la Musique award the following year. This adventurer of sound set up a piano-computer duo with producer Otisto 23, resulting in the albums PC Pieces (2007) and Fly! (2010). Two years later, Over The Clouds sees him return to the jazz trio formula in the company of Ira Coleman and Clarence Penn. Author of a biography of Thelonious Monk published in 1997, this electronic music enthusiast published the essay Les fous du son in 2016. That same year, he teamed up with Congolese pianist Ray Lema for the fusion album Riddles.
