Biography

The Voidz is an experimental rock band founded in 2013 by singer, songwriter, and musician Julian Casablancas, who had first come to prominence as lead singer of The Strokes. Formed during a break with his main band, The Voidz was formed so Casablancas could pursue his more experimental and less commercial side. The group has also featured musicians that he had performed with during his solo forays: Jeramy ‘Beardo’ Gritter (guitar), Amier Yaghmai (guitar), Jacob ‘Jake’ Bercovici (bass), Alex Carapetis (drums), and Jeff Kite (keyboards). The group issued their first album, Tyranny, in 2014. It was a commercial success and reached number 39 on the Billboard 200. Four years later, they released their second album, Virtue (2018), which was not as commercially successful, only reaching number 151. That album was followed by several non-album singles including “Coul as a Ghoul,” “The Eternal Tao,” “Did My Best,” “Alien Crime Lord,” and “The Eternal Tao 2.0.” After a six-year break, The Voidz returned in 2024 with their third album, Like All Before You. The album included the singles “Prophecy of the Dragon,” “Flexorcist,” “All the Same,” “Overture,” and “7 Horses.” They released Męğż Øf Råm, including a track "UNHOLY LOVER" in 2025.
