The Unlikely Candidates, a rock band from Fort Worth, Texas, was formed in 2008 by childhood friends Kyle Morris and Cole Male. Their first single "Follow My Feet" was released in April 2013, followed by their debut EP Follow My Feet later that year. The band's subsequent EPs, Bed of Liars (February 2017) and Danger to Myself (October 2018), featured notable tracks such as "Your Love Could Start a War" and "Oh My Dear Lord". In October 2016, they transitioned from Atlantic Records to Another Century. Their single "Novocaine", released in March 2019, reached number 1 on the Alternative Songs chart on March 14, 2020. They toured extensively alongside artists such as Fall Out Boy and the Dirty Heads. In May 2022, the band released their debut studio album Panther Island.
