Biography
Missio are an electronic-alternative duo formed in Austin, Texas, in 2014 by vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Matthew Brue, later joined by engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer David Butler. After early singles and the 2016 EP I Donât Even Care About You, the duo signed with RCA Records and broke through in 2017 with âMiddle Fingers,â which reached number 9 on Billboardâs Alternative Airplay chart and led into their debut album Loner. The album also included âEverybody Gets High,â later certified gold by the RIAA, along with âBottom of the Deep Blue Seaâ and âTwisted.â Their video for âCan I Existâ won Best Narrative Music Video at the Austin Music Video Awards. Missio expanded their sound on The Darker the Weather // The Better the Man (2019), featuring âI See Youâ and âUnderground,â and contributed âSing to Meâ to the Death Stranding: Timefall soundtrack. In 2020, they released Can You Feel the Sun and the soundtrack album Love Me Whole, followed by VILLAIN (2022). A five-part EP cycle in 2023 and 2024 led to I Am Cinco (2024), a 26-song album built around different emotional states. In 2025, Missio returned to their acoustic companion series with Skeletons, Pt. 4. They entered a new chapter with Love & Heartbreak, a 14-track album released on July 3, 2026, through Nettwerk, previewed by songs including âBleed,â âDopamine Kisses,â âYou Are My Loveâ featuring Kent Osborne, and âI Keep Running.â
