Biography
A blend of indie pop and rock, formed in London, England, in 2010, Bastille began as a solo project for singer Dan Smith, but later expanded to include keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist/guitarist Will Farquarson and drummer Chris "Woody" Wood. Their discography opens in 2011 with the first of a dozen EPs made along the way, the self-produced Laura Palmer. It's followed by a debut album, Bad Blood, which is released in 2013 and reaches No. 1, thanks in particular to the single "Pompeii", at No. 2 in the UK charts. Its successor, Wild World, achieves the same performance in 2016, buoyed, for its part, by the track "Good Grief" (No. 13). In 2018, the band teamed up with DJ and producer Marshmello for the track "Happier " (no. 2). This was followed by Doom Days in 2019, which reached No. 4 in the charts. Three years later, Bastille returned to the top of the UK charts with Give Me the Future. After a collaboration with Ella Eyre on "No Angels", the unchanging quartet worked with Hans Zimmer on an orchestral remake of their biggest hit, renamed "Pompeii MMXXIII", then took part in Lost Frequencies' dance pop track "Head On". Four new tracks, somewhere between folk and chamber pop, appear in 2024 on the EP "&" (Ampersand), Part One in July, followed by "&" (Ampersand), Part Two in September and the album "&" (Ampersand) in October. In 2025 follows the "&" (Ampersand), Part Four EP, featuring the hit "Bathsheba & Him" and previously unreleased live versions.
