Biography
The Union Underground was formed in 1996 in Sanâ¯Antonio, Texas, by vocalist and guitarist Bryan Scott, guitarist Patrick Kennison, bassist John Moyer, and drummer Josh Memolo. Their early work was produced in a home studio, Studio Underground, where they released a cassette EP that attracted the attention of Hollywood manager James Jeda and led to a contract with Portrait Records, a division of Sonyâs Columbia label. The bandâs debut studio album, ...An Education in Rebellion, was issued on 18â¯Julyâ¯2000; it remained on the charts for four months and the single "Turnâ¯Meâ¯Onâ¯âMr.â¯Deadman" entered mainstream rock playlists for six months, selling an estimated 350â¯000 copies. Their single "Acrossâ¯theâ¯Nation" was adopted as the theme for WWE Raw from 2002 to 2006, providing nationwide exposure. A live compilation, Liveâ¦Oneâ¯Nationâ¯Underground, followed in Juneâ¯2002, after which Portrait folded and the band disbanded. After a brief hiatus, Bryan Scott reassembled The Union Underground in 2016, announcing a new lineup. In 2023 the group launched the Back to the 2000s tour with SOiL, Ra and Flaw, and in 2025 coâheadlined the 25â¯Years of Rebellion and Callousness Tour with Spineshank, marking a return to touring life.
