Biography

The String Cheese Incident, a jam band from Crested Butte and Telluride, Colorado, formed in 1993. The original membersâBill Nershi, Michael Kang, Michael Travis, and Keith Moseleyâfirst played together as the Blue String Cheese Band before renaming themselves to the String Cheese Incident. In 1996, they moved to Boulder, Colorado, and added Kyle Hollingsworth on keyboards. Their debut album, Born on the Wrong Planet, was released in 1997 under their independent label SCI Fidelity. The band's live album, A String Cheese Incident, chronicling a concert at the Fox Theater, was released shortly after. They continued to release albums, including 'Round the Wheel (1998), Outside Inside (2001), and Untying the Not (2003). Notable songs include "Black Clouds" and "Land's End". The String Cheese Incident has been known for extensive touring, playing over 500 shows between 1998 and 2001.
