Biography

The Disco Biscuits, an American jam band from Philadelphia, were formed in 1995 at the University of Pennsylvania by Marc "Brownie" Brownstein, Jon "The Barber" Gutwillig, Aron Magner, and Sam "Sammy" Altman. The group initially honed their style playing at local bars and fraternity houses, blending electronic music with rock to create a unique sound known as trance fusion. The band began incorporating electronic elements into their live performances after keyboardist Aron Magner incorporated a Roland JP-8000 into his live setup in 1997. In 2005, Drummer Sammy Altman left the band and was replaced by Allen Aucoin. The band organized Camp Bisco, a music festival that began in 1999. The group has also created live, improvised scores for films such as Tron (2015) and The Fifth Element (2023).
