The Shelton Brothers, born Bob Attlesey on July 4, 1909 and Joe Attlesey on January 27, 1911 in Riley Springs, Texas, were an American country music duo who began performing together during the early 1930s. Their first recordings as Lone Star Cowboys, including "Deep Elem Blues" (1933), were released by RCA Victor's Sublabel Bluebird Records in August 1933. In New Orleans, they signed with Decca Records under the name The Shelton Brothers and gained significant popularity during the 1930s. Notable songs from this period include "Iâm Sitting on Top of the World" (1936) and "Just Because" (1936), which was later covered by Elvis Presley. They recorded over 150 tracks for Decca, supported by their younger brother Merle Shelton, Curley Fox, and Gene Sullivan. In the late 1940s, they disbanded but continued to perform in different venues until Joe's death in 1980 and Bob'sin 1983.
