Biography

The Rare Occasions formed in New England in the mid-2010s, before friends Brian McLaughlin and Luke Imbusch and bassist moved to Los Angeles. Musically at home between garage and indie rock, the debut album Into the Shallows was released in 2018. Peter Smith also joins the band in the same year. As a quartet, The Rare Occasions are now working on their second album Big Whoop. The album, which will be released in 2021, features even fuller sounds, thoughtful lyrics, multi-track walls of sound and various electronic sprinkles that expand the band's musical spectrum in many ways. McLaughlin and Co., who are also winners of the John Lennon songwriting competition, also landed a hit in 2021 with 'Notion'. The song, which was already featured on the EP Futureproof presented in 2016, became a mega-success, especially on social networks.
