Biography
Been Stellar, an American indie rock band based in New York City, was formed in 2014 by Sam Slocum (vocals, keyboards) and Skyler Knapp (vocals, guitar) during their high school years in Michigan. The duo moved to New York City as first-year students at New York University, enlisting Dominic Gould (bass), Nando Dale (guitar), and Laila Wayans (drums). In 2017, Been Stellar released their debut LP Sells Out on Bandcamp. The band's self-titled EP followed in 2022, featuring tracks such as "Manhattan Youth" and "Kids 1995". Following this, the group released their debut album with Dirty Hit, Scream from New York, NY, which was released on June 21, 2024. Produced by Dan Carey, the album received positive reviews. Been Stellar has toured extensively, opening for notable acts such as Fontaines D.C., Shame, Interpol, The 1975, Beabadoobee, and Inhaler. In June 2025, they followed with single "Breakaway", which peaked at number 12 on UK Physical Singles Sales chart. Next August was released the Always on My Mind EP.
