Biography

The Protomen, formed in Nashville, Tennessee, by anonymous performers using stage names, began in 2005 after releasing their debut The Protomen concept album that incorporated Mega Man motifs. The initial breakthrough came with the single "Father of Death / No Easy Way Out" in 2008. Chronologically, The Protomen (2005) introduced the narrative of Dr. Wily; Act II: The Father of Death (2009) expanded the story and featured "Light Up the Night"; The Cover Up: Original Soundtrack From the Motion Picture (2015) added Queen covers; and Act III: This City Made Us (2026) completed the trilogy with "This City Made Us" and "Hold Back the Night". The band toured conventions such as MAGFest (2015, 2020) and Warped Tour (2014), and performed at Bonnaroo (2009) and SXSW (2010). The Cover Up reached Number 12 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart in 2015. The group continue to record and tour.
