The Like is an American alternative rock group formed in Los Angeles in September 2001 by vocalist and guitarist Z Berg, drummer Tennessee Thomas, and bassist Charlotte Froom. All three were teenagers and daughters of industry veteransâTony Berg, Mitchell Froom, and Pete Thomas. They released three independent EPsâI Like The Like (2002), ⦠and The Like (2003), and Like It or Not (2004)âand their song âWaitingâ appeared on the Thirteen soundtrack (2003). In 2004 the band signed to Geffen Records and issued their debut album Are You Thinking What Iâm Thinking? on 13 September 2005, which combined reworked EP tracks with new material and received positive reviews. The Like performed at Coachella (2006), the Wireless Festival, and supported Muse and Razorlight. After Charlotte Froom left, the lineup became Z Berg, Tennessee Thomas, Reni Lane, and later Laena Geronimo; they recorded the second album Release Me with producer Mark Ronson, released on 15 June 2010, praised by USA Today and The New York Times. The band appeared in a short film for designer Zac Posen, an episode of 90210, and a comic book issue. On 25 May 2011 The Like announced an indefinite hiatus; they played a final show in Tokyo on 25 October 2013 before remaining inactive.
