Biography

A curiosity in the small world of British rock, The Leisure Society is the most American of the British bands. The quartet, formed in 1999 by Nick Hemming, actor Paddy Considine and director Shane Meadows, set the critics alight with their debut single "The Last of the Melting Snow" (2008), followed by the album The Sleeper in March 2009. Its successor, Into the Murky Water, unveiled in May 2011, confirms the band's unusual position in the world of English rock. After a collection of folk rock entitled Alone Aboard the Ark (2013), the quartet produced a fourth all-analog album, The Fine Art of Hanging On (2015).
