The Killer Barbies were formed in 1994 in Spain by singerâguitarist Silvia Superstar and bassist Billy King, who began their career on the independent label Toxic Records, releasing the demo tape Maqueta and singles such as "I Wanna Live in Tromaville" and "Elvis Live!!". In 1995 the duo issued their debut album Dressed to Kiss, followed by â¦Only for Freaks! in 1996 and Big Muff in 1998, each selling over 10,000 copies in Spain; the band also appeared in Jesús Francoâs film Killer Barbys (1996). The international breakthrough came in 2000 when they signed with Drakkar Records and released the reârecorded album Bad Taste, which introduced them to German audiences. Subsequent releases included the single "Candy" featuring Bela B. in 2002 and the album Sin Is In in 2003, coinciding with Francoâs film Killer Barbys vs. Dracula. A compilation of Bâsides, Freakshow, followed in 2004, adding a DVD of music videos and live footage. The bandâs later output includes Vive le punk! (2020) and El pop se autodestruirá en 4, 3, 2, 1 (2024), while their songs appeared in video games such as Rumble Roses and FlatOut. The Killer Barbies have maintained a consistent presence in alternative rock and punk circles, achieving notable chart success in Spain and Germany and contributing to the genreâs international visibility.
