Biography
The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up was a five-piece band formed in 1997 in Oakland, California. Named after a high school friend of the group, they began their musical journey with a highly textured sound that spanned from indie to post-rock. Their initial releases included the self-titled EP The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up (1999) and It's Winter Somewhere (2001). The band released their album It's Winter Here in 2001. They continued to release notable works such as Homemade Drugs (October 2002) and Picks Us Apart (July 26, 2005). The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up collaborated with other artists in the industry such as Christopher Walla of Deathcab for Cutie. They released several EPs and splits, notably a split CD with Xiu Xiu in July 2003. The band went inactive in 2006.
