Biography
The Golden Filter, an electronic music duo consisting of Penelope Trappes and Stephen Hindman, was formed in 2008. Trappes grew up in Lismore, Australia, while Hindman hailed from Ohio, United States. The duo produced their debut single "Solid Gold" in 2008, influenced by italo mix CDs given to them by Josh Cheon of Dark Entries records. They released the single on Dummy Records in 2009 and performed at SXSW Music Festival in March 2009. The duo's debut album Voluspa was released on Brille Records in 2010, named after the ancient Nordic poem Völuspá. They collaborated with Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli to create a short film titled Syndromes, released as a CD/DVD package in 2011. Subsequent releases include Unselected Works Vol. 1 (2014), Still // Alone (2017), and Autonomy (2019).
