Biography

The Genbaku Onanies formed in 1982 in Nagoya, Japan, emerging from the local punk scene. Their debut single "Just Another" (29 April 1984) and follow‑up "Not Another" (8 December 1984) established their presence. In 1985 they released the album Nuclear Cowboy and the live EP O'DD On Live Itself (1 January 1986). Subsequent albums Essential (1988), Genbaku Headquarters (1989), On Time (1990), Desert Island Disc (1991), All The Way (1993), Quality Control (1994), Tin Drum Years (1996), Step Forward (1997), and Primal Rock Therapy (2003) charted their evolving sound. The 2003 live double‑CD Five Live the Genbaku Onanies and the 2010 album Solid underscored their longevity, while the 2015 single "Pinhead" showed continued output. The EP, BECOMING The Genbaku Onanies, including the single "Each Day I Die,” was released on March 5, 2026.
