Biography
The Los Angeles based duo The Federal Empire are a relatively new band with an impressive pedigree. The group is made up of platinum-selling Carolina Liar member Chad Wolf and Grammy-nominated songwriter McKay Stevens. They originally met as journeymen songwriters drafted in to create material for other artists who, after discovering they had an affinity for each other's playing and composing, decided to form a band.
They have enjoyed a meteoric rise since forming up in 2016, their popularity due in no small part to their music being featured on numerous TV shows across multiple channels. As a result their tunes have garnered over 40 million downloads in a relatively short time. Their distinctive combination of pithy, sometimes satirical lyrics which often have a political theme coupled with solid tunes and hook lines is a style which clearly draws from a wide range of influences. So far the band's most successful release has been their 2018 EP 'American Dream'.
