The Famine was an American death metal band formed in Arlington, Texas, in 2006 by Kris McCaddon, Mark Garza, and Andrew Godwin. In late 2006, they recorded three songs for a self-titled EP released in 2008. Their debut album, The Raven and the Reaping, was also released that year. The band toured extensively, including performances with Demon Hunter, Living Sacrifice, The Devil Wears Prada, Saosin, and Underoath. In January 2010, McCaddon left the band, and bassist Nick Nowell took over vocal duties. Despite a studio fire that destroyed their equipment, they released The Architects of Guilt in 2011 through Solid State Records. The Famine disbanded on April 12, 2011, citing personal and logistical challenges.
