Biography

The Exit was an American indie, punk, and reggae band formed in 2000 in New York City. The group consisted of Ben Brewer on lead guitar and vocals, Gunnar Olsen on drums, and Jeff DaRosa on bass and vocals. Brewer and Olsen had previously played together in several bands before meeting DaRosa at Emerson College in Boston. Their first record, New Beat, was produced by Daniel Rey and released in 2002 on Some Records. The album received favorable reviews and led to tours with Taking Back Sunday, Coheed and Cambria, RX Bandits, Muse, 311, OAR, and Against Me! between 2002 and 2005. In 2004, The Exit released their second album, Home For An Island, which featured songs like "Soldier" and "Let's Go to Haiti". The band signed with Wind-Up Records in 2005 for a re-release of the album. DaRosa left the band in August 2006, and The Exit officially disbanded in 2007.
