The Burns Sisters, an American folk music group from Ithaca, New York, were formed in 1986 by sisters Sheila, Marie, Annie, Jeannie, and Terry. Raised in Binghamton, their musical journey began when several of the sisters moved to Ithaca and started singing with the David Kent Band. Their breakthrough came when their music was featured in Louis Malle's film Atlantic City in 1980. The group released albums such as The Burns Sisters Band (1986) and "Songs of the Heart" (1992) before transitioning to acoustic music. In 1995, they signed with Rounder/Philo Records and released notable albums, including Tradition: Holiday Songs Old & New (1996). The group toured extensively with Arlo Guthrie from 2005 to 2009. Sheila Burns passed away on November 9, 2023, at age 73.
