Biography

Lynn Miles, born September 29, 1958 in Cowansville, Quebec, is a Canadian singer-songwriter. She began composing songs at age ten and performing at sixteen, learning multiple instruments during her school years. In her twenties, she studied voice and classical music history and theory at Carleton University in Ottawa. Miles' first recording of original material was a nine-song demo released in 1987. Her breakthrough came in 1991 with Chalk This One Up to the Moon, followed by Slightly Haunted in 1996, which received favorable reviews and was a Billboard Top Ten Pick of the Year. In 2001, her album Unravel won the 2003 Juno Award for Best Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Solo. Miles has released numerous albums, including Love Sweet Love, Fall for Beauty, and the acoustic series Black Flowers. She has also collaborated with various artists, notably producing Lynne Hanson's album River of Sand in 2014.
