Biography

The Beauty Shop was an Americana rock band formed in 1999 in Champaign, Illinois. Led by singer-songwriter-guitarist John Hoeffleur, their initial release, The Grief EP, led to a deal with Parasol Records and their first full-length album, Yr. Money or Yr. Life, released in October 2000. The band's lineup changed over the years, with notable members including Ariane Peralta on bass. In September 2004, they released "Monster", which gained significant airplay on BBC 6 Music. Their subsequent album, Crisis Helpline, was released in Europe that same year. The Beauty Shop disbanded in June 2008 following the departure of key members. Posthumously, their final demos were released digitally as Just Some More Demos in January 2009.
