A Canadian country artist with a knack for pop hooks, Tebey was born Tebey Solomon Ottoh on October 14, 1983 in Peterborough, Ontario. He grew up in Ontario the son of a Canadian mother and Nigerian father. In 2003 he had a breakthrough hit in both Canada and the US with the single âWe Shook Hands (Man to Man)â. He then worked mainly as a professional songwriter for both pop and country acts penning songs for diverse acts like One Direction and Flo Rida. His impressive resume as a writer included âAll About Tonightâ, which Pixie Lott took to the top of the UK singles chart, and Justin Mooreâs Number 1 country smash âSomebody Else Willâ. There was much anticipation for his 2012 debut LP The Wait, and it spun off a pair of Canadian top 40 country hits, âSomewhere in the Countryâ and âAll About Usâ. 2014âs Two landed him three more top 40 country hits including his first top 5, 2013âs âWake Me Upâ, which was his biggest selling single to that point. His 2018 EP Love a Girl featured the hit country/pop singles âDenim on Denimâ and âWho's Gonna Love Youâ, the latter becoming his first Number 1 hit as a performer. It also included the electronic dance music-influenced country song âShow You What It's Likeâ. In 2019 he released the single âGood Jeansâ, a Number 2 country hit, and a collaboration with Marie-Mai, "The Good Ones", that would give him another top 10 country hit and provide the title for his 2021 album.
