Biography

Brett Kissel (May 27, 1990) is a Canadian country music singer-songwriter. Born in the small town of St. Paul, Alberta, he grew up on his family's cattle ranch in the Flat Lake region and picked up the guitar at the age of 6. In 1995, he was discovered by local country star and philanthropist Danny Hooper and recorded his studio debut Keepin' It Country came (2003) when he was just 12 years old. In 2006, he became the youngest CCMA nominee after being nominated for the Chevy Trucks Rising Star Award. Following a series of well-received releases, Brett Kissel landed a record deal with Warner Music Canada and made his major-label debut with 2013's Started with a Song. The album became an instant hit and even received a nomination for the Juno Awards. His next LP, Pick Me Up, racked up several awards at the CCMAs and peaked at Number 7 on the Canadian charts. Released in 2017, his third album We Were That Song won earned him his first Juno Award for Country Album of the Year. Preceded by his chart-topping single "Drink About Me," Now or Never (2020) was his first album to enter the American charts, peaking at Number 18 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. Subsequently, Brett Kissel continued his winning streak with releases such as What Is Life? (2021) and the 98 Degrees collaboration "Ain't the Same," which went to Number 41 in Canada. Along with "Never Have I Ever," the single was included in the singer-songwriter's tenth studio effort The Compass Project - South Album, the first instalment of a four-album series, followed by East Album, West Album and North Album in 2023. In 2025, Kissel released his fourteenth studio full-length, Let Your Horses Run, including singles "Two of Us" with Cooper Alan, "Cowboys & Dreamers", and the title song with its remixes in the Deluxe edition.
