Biography
Tandyn Douglas Almer, born July 30, 1942, in Minneapolis, was an American songwriter and musician. He attended a music conservatory in Minnesota and later moved to Chicago to pursue jazz piano. In the early 1960s, Almer relocated to Los Angeles and shifted his focus to pop and rock music. His breakthrough came with "Along Comes Mary", a song he wrote for The Association in 1966, which became a Top 10 hit on the U.S. charts. Released in 1969, "Degeneration Gap" was the only commercially released recording issued under his own name during his lifetime. In the early 1970s, Almer collaborated with Brian Wilson on several projects, including the Beach Boys' singles "Marcella" and "Sail On, Sailor". Almer died on January 8, 2013. Shortly after, the album Along Comes Tandyn, featuring demos of his early songs, was released.
