Biography

Sydne Rome (born March 17, 1951 in Akron, Ohio) grew up in Upper Sandusky. She began her acting career at the age of 18 and soon moved to Italy. There she appeared in numerous films, including Friß oder stirb (1969), Was? (1972), Reigen (1973) and Schöner Gigolo, armer Gigolo (1978), alongside stars such as David Bowie. At the beginning of the 1980s, she established herself as a pioneer of the aerobics wave alongside her acting career. In 1980, she released her first single "Angelo prepotente", later also in English ("For You") and German ("Wozu"). In the same year, her debut album Sydne Rome is released, which contains a cover version of the Manfred Mann hit "Ha Ha Said the Clown", but does not become a chart success. She achieved a greater response in 1983 with the album Aerobic Fitness Dancing, which reached number 1 in the charts in Germany and number 2 in Austria and was awarded gold in Germany. A book and a video about the program are published. In the late 1980s, she also appeared on German television, for example in the series Das Erbe der Guldenburgs (1987-1990). She has lived in Rome since the early 1970s and married Emilio Lari in 1973, later Roberto Bernabei, with whom she has two adopted daughters. She has appeared in over 50 film and television productions.
