Sunny Jain, born in 1975 in the United States, is an Indian-American composer and musician known for his work with the dhol and drums. He began his career performing with notable artists such as Kiran Ahluwalia and Norah Jones. In 2008, Sunny Jain founded Red Baraat, a Brooklyn-based bhangra band blending North Indian rhythms with various musical styles. The group's debut album, Chaal Baby, was released in 2010 and received critical acclaim. Red Baraat performed at prestigious events including the Bonnaroo Music Festival and the White House. Sunny Jain has also been a member of Junoon, a prominent South Asian rock band, and played dhol for the Broadway show Bombay Dreams. Throughout his career, he has received grants from organizations like the Aaron Copland Music Fund and Chamber Music America, and was designated a jazz ambassador by the U.S. Department of State in 2002.
