Biography

The granddaughter of country singer Aaron Jess Nicks, Stevie Nicks didn't look back after being given a guitar on her 16th birthday. She was still at school when she met guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, settling in LA with him and joining his band Fritz. When the band split, the couple started writing and performing together, making their first Buckingham Nicks album in 1973. It flopped but they continued to write together and both were invited to join Fleetwood Mac, playing a key role in one of the best-selling albums of all time, Rumours. As the band imploded and Nicks' relationship with Buckingham disintegrated, she toured with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and in 1981 released her debut solo album Bella Donna. It went to Number 1 in the US and produced the hit singles Stop Draggin' My Heart Around and Leather & Lace, and was followed by The Wild Heart (1983), Rock A Little (1985) and The Other Side Of The Mirror (1989). Nicks continued to work sporadically with Fleetwood Mac as more solo albums and tours followed and, after a break, she was back in the studio working on new material in 2010.
