Biography
Born in the London suburb of Bermondsey on May 31, 1965, drummer Steven Douglas White is best known for his long collaboration with Paul Weller, beginning with the group The Style Council, which they founded with keyboardist Mick Talbot in 1983. Over the decades, in addition to Paul Weller's albums, Steve White has put together several other jazz-oriented projects, including Council Collective, The Jazz Renegades, The Bomb Droppers, Players and Trio Valore. In 2026, when producer Ed Piller, founder of Acid Jazz Records, created a series entitled Jazz Sessions, he called on Steve White to inaugurate it with the album Soul Drums, recorded with his brother Joel White (organ) and Chris Hague (guitar, keyboards). Consisting of original compositions, Soul Drums also includes a new version of "My Ever Changing Moods", created by The Style Council.
