Biography
Steve Veilleux is a Quebec folk singer-songwriter, born December 7, 1978 in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada. He grew up in a country music culture strongly influenced by his musician father. As a teenager during the grunge movement of the early 1990s, it was artist Kurt Cobain who inspired him to write his own songs. In the late 1990s, he founded the group Kaïn with Yannick Blanchette. They were later joined by Patrick Lemieux and Ãric Maheu. Kaïn has become a fixture on the Quebec music scene, with albums, radio hits and concert tours. The group has received some twenty nominations, including an ADISQ award as Group of the Year in 2006. Meanwhile, Steve Veilleux launched his solo career in 2010 with the album Les souvenirs ne meurent jamais, produced by Ãric Goulet. He repeated the experience in 2016 with T'en souviens-tu encore, Godin? in which he set to music the poems of Gérald Godin, the Quebec writer and politician. In 2021, Steve Veilleux released his third solo album, Les beaux jours, produced by Davy Gallant.
