Spencer, a Swiss indie rock band, was formed in 2002 by drummer JP Free and guitarist Leo Niessner. The duo initially met in a Dixieland combo in the mid-1980s and were inspired by psychobilly and garage punk bands like the Cramps and the Meteors. They later founded the psychobilly band Blown Mad. Their debut album as Spencer, This World, was released in 2006. The band's breakthrough came with their second album, Timewarp, produced by Adrian Stern in 2009. This album featured the singles "Timewarp" and "Don't Wanna Spend", which gained significant airplay on Swiss radio stations like Radio Argovia and SRF3. In 2011, former Redeem bassist Pashi joined Spencer, leading to a shift in their musical style towards shoegaze and dream pop influences. Their third album, Echoes of Loneliness, was released in 2013 under the band's own label Ambulance Recordings.
