Biography

Full of sun-baked, good-time vibes and loose, skanking melodies, SowFlo (named after the acronym for South West Florida) blend surf-rock and reggae sounds with soulful, party grooves that capture the spirit of summer, youth and a freewheeling spirit. Jake Dorris, Christian Yacono, Daniel Danger, Nick Grim and Wes Mitzelfeld formed Sowflo in 2009 and steadily built a loyal fanbase in Florida's music scene. They released a self-titled EP in 2010 and their single Paradise became popular on YouTube, earning 400,000 views as they toured the east coast and appealed to the surfing community. Working with Grammy-winning engineer Marc Lee and Stephen Marley's producer, Paul Fakhourie, their next EP Rising drew further on the easy-going swagger of Jamaican music, before debut album Such Is Life made it to number four in the iTunes reggae chart when released in 2016. The album featured singles Keep Cool and If You're Lost and sought to spread positive messages of love, unity, spirituality and the Rastafarian virtues preached by their hero Bob Marley.
