Soul Control is a German musician duo consisting of Thomas "Tom" Quella (*1970 in Berlin) and Leonard "Leo" Buck (*1979 in Sierra Leone). The duo plays pop, Latin pop, R&B, soul, dance and Eurodance and achieved international fame with the single "Chocolate (Choco Choco)", which reached the top 5 of the singles charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2004 and was released in over 40 countries. Tom and Leo met in 1999 at a concert of Leo's former band Moddeling Throu and began working together. Together with producer Bruce Hammond, they produced the album Here We Go in 2004. That year, they are part of the Toggo Tour and perform at the New Year's Eve party in Berlin, among other events. In 2005, they present songs from a second album for the first time at the Streetlife Festival, followed by releases such as "Deutschland ist Geil" and "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" as well as the album Kimito Choco Choco in 2006. In 2007, they released the album Don't play with your noodle in the Philippines; a release in Germany was planned but never materialized. Stylistically, Soul Control moves between catchy pop and dance elements with Latin American influences and soul borrowings. In the following years, further singles such as "African Child" (2010), "Now That You've Gone" (2019) and "Butterfly" (2020) were released, as well as new editions and versions of well-known songs.
