Chyp-Notic is a German electronic music group formed in 1988, initially known as Toys. The band consisted of Vlad Mint (real name Vlad Myint-Swe, born February 15, 1969), Jan Erik (real name Jan Machalek, born May 18, 1958), and Walter Bee (real name Walter Bussler, born April 9, 1967). Mint handled vocals and guitar, while Erik played multiple instruments including guitar, bass, saxophone, and drums. Bee was on keyboards. In 1990, they signed with Coconut Records and released their debut single "Nothing Compares 2 U" â a cover of Princeâs song that reached number 16 in the German Single-Charts. Following this success, Chyp-Notic continued to release music with notable singles like "I Can't Have U", "Still In Love With You", and "When I Dream". Their breakthrough album Nothing Compares was released in 1990. In 1992, they produced their second album I Can't Get Enough. After a string of hits including "I Do It All For You, Baby" and "Donât Break the Heart", featuring Greg Ellis, the group disbanded in 1994. Despite their disbandment, Chyp-Notic's music continued to be recognized. In 2008, Greatest Hits was released. In 2015, a posthumous release of "Nothing Compares 2 U (Remixes)". The band received the RSH-Gold award in 1993 for "Deutschproduzierte Gruppe." Vlad Mint died on September 27, 1998.
