Biography

A singer-songwriter with character, American Sophie B. Hawkins is best known for her inaugural hit "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" in 1992. Her debut albums include Tongues and Tails (1992), Whaler (1994) and Timbre (1999). A committed activist on various fronts (women's rights, gay rights, animal rights), she then moved into the independent sphere, where her music struggled to reach the public. Wilderness (2004), the live Bad Kitty Board Mix (2006) and The Crossing (2012) have the added drawback of being less brightly inspired than her first albums.
