Biography

Jang Ho-geun, popularly known as Jang Minho, is a South Korean singer, dancer, and TV host. He was born in Busan on September 11, 1977, and raised in Incheon. The youngest of three children, he began exploring his artistic talents through acting school and TV commercial modeling during his high school years in Seoul. Jang Minho's initial foray into the music industry was in 1997 as the leader of the idol group U-BeS. Despite releasing two albums, the group disbanded in 1999. After a five-year break from music, Jang Minho returned in 2004, forming the pop duo Baram along with Seo Woo. The duo gained recognition in China. During this period, Jang Minho used the stage name Jang-goon. In 2007, he enlisted in the military, serving until 2009. Following his military service, he pursued a graduate degree in Performing Arts at Dankook University. Despite considering a career shift, he ultimately decided to return to music. In 2011, Jang Minho re-emerged as a trot singer with his debut single "Love you, Nuna." His 2013 EP, The Man Says, gradually garnered attention, marking his successful entry into the trot genre. This was followed by the release of his studio debut Drama in 2017. However, his major breakthrough came in 2020 with his participation in the TV Chosun audition show Mr. Trot, where he placed sixth. This achievement significantly raised his profile, leading to various advertising deals and an increase in product sales for brands he represented. He also launched a video-streaming channel in 2020, rapidly attracting a large subscriber base. In 2022, Jang Minho issued a second studio LP titled Eternal, reaching number 2 on the Circle Albums Chart. That year, the EP Essay ep. 1 (에세이 ep.1) cracked the South Korean Top 10. 2023 saw the release of his second extended play Essay ep. 2 (에세이 ep.2), which peaked at number 6 on the South Korean Albums Chart. In October 2025, Jang released his new EP, Analog Vol.1.
