Biography

Slimane is a French singer-songwriter born Simane Nebichi in Chelles (Seine-et-Marne) on October 13, 1989. From the age of twelve, he studied music and sang in gospel choirs. In 2016, he won the fifth edition of the reality TV show The Voice, la plus belle voix. Following this media success, he went on to record two songs, "Paname" and "À fleur de toi", which immediately hit the French singles charts (no. 12 and no. 10 respectively). These songs, composed long before his appearance on the show, are included on his debut album À Bout de Rêves (2016), which immediately hits number one and brings a new single with "Frérot". After this consecration confirmed by a double platinum disc and a first tour completed by a performance at the Olympia in Paris, two other tracks follow in 2017, the duet "Abîmée" with Léa Castel, then "J'en suis là" (#14) and "Viens on s'aime" (#9), heralding the second album Solune, released in January 2018 and featuring contributions from Boostee, actress and humorist Camille Lellouche and the group JAT (Just Another Trio). In addition to his singing career, Slimane was one of the jurors on the Belgian edition of The Voice. In 2019, Slimane will join the charity troupe Les Enfoirés. While he also tried his hand at acting, taking part in the filming of the series Leo Matteï, brigade des mineurs, he returned to song with an album conceived in collaboration with Vitaa, Versus (2019), featuring contributions from Maître Gims, Kendji Girac, Amel Bent and Camélia Jordana. The album was so well received by the public that the duo recorded a second instalment, Versus - Chapitre II (2020), with Dadju joining them. Released in 2022, "La Recette " (no. 39) is the first single from the album Chroniques d'Un Cupidon, which reaches no. 1 in France and Belgium. The album features contributions from Claudio Capéo, Lina Mahyem, La Zarra, Manal and Soprano. Selected to represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest on May 11, 2024 in Malmö (Sweden), Slimane comes in 4th with the song "Mon amour", which reaches #2 in sales and listens in France and Switzerland. The song is immediately added to the Essentiels compilation, which is released immediately afterwards and reaches No. 1 in France.
