Biography

Skye Mary Sweetnam, born on May 5, 1988, in Bolton, Ontario, Canada, is a singer known for her work in punk pop and rock music. From a young age, she showed an interest in music, studying singing and dancing, and writing her own songs by the age of nine. Her breakthrough came with the release of her debut single "Billy S." in 2003, which was featured on the soundtrack of the film How to Deal. This led to the release of her first album, Noise From Basement, in September 2004, under Capitol Records/EMI. The album included notable singles such as "Tangled Up In Me" and "Number One". Skye Sweetnam's career continued with collaborations on various projects, including contributing to the soundtrack of The Barbie Diaries in 2006, where she voiced Barbie and performed several songs. She was also nominated for a Juno Award in the New Artist of the Year category that same year. Her second album, Sound Soldier, was released in November 2007, featuring the single "Human", produced by The Matrix. In 2011, Skye Sweetnam transitioned from her solo career to form the heavy metal band Sumo Cyco, under the stage name "Sever," releasing the albums Lost in Cyco City (2014) and Opus Mar (2017).
