Born in Clermont-Ferrand on May 18, 1979, Sylvain Hagopian is better known under the artist name Silvà n Areg, after having chosen the pseudonyms Casus Belli and Caz B in his early days. Of Armenian origin, he grew up in the Lyon region and began his musical career with groups such as Da Bronx and Tapis Versatile, who performed at the Francofolies festival in La Rochelle. After teaching physical education and sports, he recorded his first album under the name Casus Belli, Lyon (2000), followed by several mixtapes. After a tour with Rohff, he took a break until 2016, when he returned under the name Caz B for the track "Sale journée". His meeting with singer Claudio Capéo led to the writing of three songs, including the breakthrough hit "Un homme debout ", which reached No. 6 in the charts. The author, composer and performer then took up the name Casus Belli for two new rap projects, CB2K17 (2017) and C.B. 2.0 (2018), before opting for the name Silvà n Areg ("sun" in Armenian). With the song "Allez leur dire", initially named "Le Petit Nicolas" before a complaint from the rights holders of the cartoon strip's authors, he took part in the Eurovision Song Contest pre-selections in 2019, without being chosen. Nevertheless, the track proved to be the first single from the album Sur Le Fil, the first under the name Silvà n Areg.
