Biography

Shuji and Akira (修二と昭) are a Japanese male idol duo formed by Kazuya Kamenashi (born February 23, 1986 in Edogawa-ku, Tokyo) and Tomohisa Yamashita (born April 9, 1985 in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture). They formed after appearing together in the TV drama "Nobuta wo Produce" in 2005. On November 2, 2005, they released "Seishun Amigo," the theme song for the drama. Released by Johnny's Entertainment, the single sold approximately 520,000 copies in its first week and became a huge hit, selling more than 1.6 million copies in total. 2005 became a social phenomenon, ranking No. 1 in the annual singles ranking. After that, their activities as a unit temporarily ended, but they made a surprise comeback at "Johnny's Countdown 2015-2016" in 2015. They performed "Seishun Amigo" and were greeted with cheers for their first performance together in six years.
