Shackleton is an electronic music project led by Lancashire, England-born producer Sam Shackleton. Known for forging a singular path at the crossroads of dub, techno, and ritualistic sound design, he emerged from Londonâs experimental underground in the late 2000s. Originally associated with the dubstep movement, he expanded his sonic palette by creating immersive, hypnotic, and emotionally charged music. After a series of collaborations and singles between 2004 and 2008, Shackleton relocated to Berlin, Germany and released his debut full-length, 3 EPs, in 2009. Two years later, he collaborated with fellow British dubstep artist Pinch on the album Pinch & Shackleton (2011). His catalog features many collaborative albums with other electronic artists â including Ernesto Tomasini, Vengeance Tenfold, Anika, Zimpel, Scotch Rolex, Six Organs of Admittance, Holy Tongue, and Saagara â Shackleton has issued solo albums including Music for the Quiet Hour / The Drawbar Organ EPs (2012), Departing Like Rivers (2021), and The Scandal of Time (2023). In 2026, Shackleton issued the album Euphoria Bound, which critics called his most ambitious and uncompromising release yet.
