Biography
Porter Ricks is a German electronic music project that formed in the mid-1990s. The ensemble was founded by the musicians Thomas Köner and Andy Mellwig and is famous for its maritime themes and for the classic studio recording Biokinetics (1996). They achieved professional recognition in 1996 with the release of the recording âPort of Nuba / Nautical Nubaâ on the label Chain Reaction. Their discography includes the studio recordings Porter Ricks (1997) and Anguilla Electrica (2017), as well as the collaborative recording Symbiotics (1999) with the ensemble Techno Animal. The duo has provided remixes for artists including Nine Inch Nails and Low. After a hiatus starting in 1999 to focus on solo projects, the ensemble resumed activity in 2012 and released the EP Shadow Boat (2016).
