Blawan (born Jamie Roberts) is a British electronic music producer and DJ renowned for his industrial-tinged approach to techno and experimental electronic music. Known for his raw, uncompromising sound and innovative production techniques, Blawan has established himself as one of the most influential figures in the UK underground electronic scene. His music blends powerful, distorted rhythms with sharp, mechanical percussion, creating a sound that is at once hypnotic, dark, and relentless. Emerging in the early 2010s, Blawan—who grew up in Barnsley, South Yorkshire—quickly garnered attention with his breakthrough releases on labels like R&S Records and Hinge Finger, putting himself on the map with his 2011 remix of Radiohead's "Bloom." Blawan's music is often characterized by its unconventional textures, heavy basslines, and metallic, grinding rhythms. His collaborations, including his work with fellow producer Pariah as Karenn, and with Surgeon as Trade, further explore these avant-garde elements, cementing his reputation as a pioneer in the realm of experimental dance music. He has put out a string of EPs that demonstrate his ability to push boundaries and explore new sonic territories, including 2024 EP BouQ. In 2025, Roberts released his sophomore album SickElixir, featuring charted singles "Rabbit Hole" with Monstera Black and "The GL Lights".
