Biography

Johannes Linstead, born in 1969 in Canada, is a guitarist known for blending Spanish-style guitar with Afro-Cuban, Middle Eastern, and Latin American percussion. He began studying guitar at age eight, initially focusing on classical music before exploring rock, flamenco, and jazz. Linstead released his debut album, Sol Luna Tierra, in 1997, followed by Kiss The Earth in 2000 and Zabuca in 2003. Notable collaborations include Encanto with Nicholas Gunn (2007) and We Three Strings with Bryan Lubeck and Tomas Michaud (2006). Linstead's album Midnight Rhumba won "Best World Album" at the OWMR Awards in 2014. He received multiple awards, including "Guitarist of the Year" at the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards in 2007 and a nomination for a Juno Award in 2007 for Cafe Tropical.
