Sergey Vladimirovich Mazayev, was born on December 7, 1959, in Moscow, USSR (now Russian Federation), where he began his career as a singer. In the late 1970s, Mazayev started performing with various bands, which became popular on the Soviet stage. He founded the rock band Moral Codex in 1989, known for its blend of big beat, rock 'n roll, and jazz/blues. The band gained significant popularity and has maintained a large following, performing regularly in the CIS countries and participating in festivals such as Live 8 in 2005. In 2005, Mazayev established his own production label, Mazay Communications. He was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia in 2010 by then-president Dmitry Medvedev.
