Biography

Seija Saara Maria Simola, born on September 25, 1944, in Helsinki, Finland, was a Finnish singer-songwriter. She began her career at age 18 as a soloist for Leo Lindblom and later joined Erkki Valaste's orchestra. Her early singles, "Kun hämärtää" and "Suurkaupungin valot", were released in 1966. In the late 1960s, she gained popularity with hits like "Kun aika on" (1969) and "Sulle silmäni annan" (1969). Simola represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1978 with "Anna rakkaudelle tilaisuus", finishing 18th. Throughout her career, she collaborated with various artists and groups, including Pepe & Paradise and Fyrka. Notable albums include Seija (1972) and Katseen Kosketus (1979). Simola received a pension from the Minister of Education in 2005 and passed away on August 21, 2017.
