Biography

Born in 1978 in Ziguinchor, Senegal, Seckou Keita is a Kora and djembe player. Descended from several generations of griots and a royal Malian family, he is one of the leading exponents of traditional African music. He began his international career in 1996, performing over 400 concerts in thirty countries. Youssou N'Dour and Salif Keita encourage him in his work to promote the kora, the famous Manding harp. Seckou Keita teaches his art to charities. In 2015, he released the album 22 Strings/Cordes. In 2017, he producedTransparentWater with his friend, Cuban pianist Omar Sosa.
