Scarce, an American alternative rock band from Providence, Rhode Island, was formed in 1993 by Chick Graning, Joyce Raskin, and Jud Ehrbar. Their initial releases included the EP Red in 1994 and singles such as "Days Like This" and "All Sideways". By 1995, Mike Levesque had replaced Ehrbar on drums, and the band released their debut album Deadsexy. They toured with Hole and gained popularity. Tragedy struck when Graning suffered a brain aneurysm in June 1995, leading to a hiatus while he recovered. The band reformed with Joseph Propatier on drums and re-recorded much of Deadsexy, adding new songs before resuming tours in January 1996. Despite their success, emotional and musical differences led to the band's split in 1997. Scarce reunited in 2008, releasing the EP Tattoos and Parades, and Yesterdays, and re-releasing Deadsexy digitally with previously unreleased material. They toured the UK in 2008 and 2009. Recorded versions of the songs from The Fall and Rise of Circus Boy Blue were made available on Bandcamp in 2011, forming Scarce's second album. Noble Scars was released on Bandcamp in 2016.
